Ketamine infusion for pain and mood disorders

With proven antidepressive and analgesic properties, ketamine is emerging as a popular approach for treating psychiatric disorders and pain conditions (AANA, 2024). Conditions treated through ketamine infusion include:
  • Treatment-resistant depression
  • Major depressive disorder
  • Postpartum depression
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Anxiety
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • Bipolar disorders
  • Chronic pain
  • Migraines
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Complex regional pain syndrome

Who is a candidate for ketamine therapy?

Ketamine infusion is best used as an alternative method when conventional treatment modalities have failed. It may be able to provide relief for patients with diagnosed pain conditions or mood disorders that aren’t responsive to traditional treatment methods.

Ketamine infusion typically is not recommended for patients with specific risk factors:

  • Uncontrolled hypertension or unstable heart disease
  • Raised intracranial or intraocular pressure
  • Psychosis, schizophrenia, or current mania
  • History of brain bleed or aneurysm
  • Active or recent substance abuse
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • IV access difficulty
  • Prior adverse reaction to ketamine
  • History of cystitis
  • Acute suicidal ideations

Learn about Zenfusions

Zenfusions is a DFW-based ketamine therapy practice with clinics in Dallas and Richardson. Our providers have extensive experience treating patients with chronic pain and mental health disorders.
Licensed providers
Zenfusions is owned and operated by a CRNA and APRN with experience at a Level II Trauma Center and chronic pain clinic. Our collaborating physician specializes in anesthesiology and pain management.
IV administration
We administer ketamine intravenously due to its superior bioavailability and ability to control dosage. If a patient has adverse effects during an infusion, we can decrease the dose, stop the infusion, or provide medication.
Safety commitment
We monitor patients and check vitals throughout our treatment sessions to ensure their safety and look out for any signs of distress. Our providers are equipped to medically intervene if necessary.
Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy
We recommend patients see their therapists between infusions to explore and unpack the experience. Therapists are also welcome to be present for ketamine infusion treatments for emotional support.
